Hey there, pod pals!
I’m back from my summer break, refreshed and ready to help you take your podcasting game up an octave. This week on the podcast, I share my top tips for building confidence on the mic, but I want to share a little bit more here. If you haven't listened to the episode make sure to check it out!
I talk a lot about the intimacy of podcasting, and if you can imagine your episode as a message to your group chat, not only does that help you reach your audience authentically and intimately, but it also helps you get past your performance anxiety.
Think about it. When you drop a voice note, it’s usually because it’s just too much to type out, right? You’re talking to a small group of people, sharing something personal, and you’re not worried about sounding perfect. That’s the same energy you want to bring to your podcast.
Your audience is just a bigger group chat, the people listening want to hear what you have to say, and you know (or you're learning) what they're tuning in for. Just like with your group chats, there are audience who tune in to hear more about the snafu you had trying to order a drink last weekend. There are other group chats where you dispense your most powerful, "girl, get back out there," advice. The same is true with your podcast audience. There are podcasts that thrive because of banter, there are others that do better with getting straight to the point. Consider what you want to bring to the table.
Forget about needing to be a professional speaker or a seasoned stage performer. None of that matters here. The beauty of podcasting lies in the authenticity of your voice, in the way you share your stories and insights, just like you would with your closest friends.
If these tips resonate with you, I’ve got so much more to share in the latest episode of Up An Octave. I go in-depth on how to build your confidence, how to overcome those pesky self-doubts, and why pacing is crucial for keeping your listeners engaged. Plus, I talk about the importance of bringing your unique flavor to every episode—because that’s what will keep your audience coming back for more. I promise you’ll walk away feeling more confident and excited about your podcasting journey.
